The A 626 House is a renovation and extension of an existing residential property in Delhi, a project that required understanding what a house has accumulated over time before deciding what to add or remove. The site is compact, the context urban, and the brief was to make the house feel larger without making it louder.
The intervention concentrates on light and sequence. The plan is reorganised around a central courtyard that draws daylight into the heart of the house and creates a moment of pause between the more active spaces. Rooms that previously faced inward now face this void, changing the quality of light throughout the day.
Material choices are deliberate and few: polished concrete, natural stone, and joinery in solid timber. The restraint in palette allows the proportion of spaces, the thing most likely to be diluted in renovation projects, to remain legible and felt.

"A renovation is a negotiation between what a house has decided to be, and what it still could be."
